Shaffaq Mohammed MEP (Liberal Democrat)
Shaffaq Mohammed is the Liberal Democrat MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber. He was elected in the May 2019 European Parliament Elections. Shaffaq serves on the Culture and Education Committee and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality.
Born in Kashmir, Pakistan, Shaffaq moved to Britain at the age of 4 with his father, a steelworker who came to work in Sheffield’s steel mills. He was elected to Sheffield Council as a councillor for Broomhill and Shallow Vale. Shaffaq has worked as a youth worker, helping young people into education and employment in some of the most deprived areas of the city.
