Marvin Rees: A good man for Bristol Mayor

Part of OBV’s mission is to nurture political talent. The type of talent that will not only serve their elected constituency well, but one who acutely understands the challenge to recognise and effectively confront race inequality. The Bristol Mayoral candidate and OBV alumni, Marvin Rees understands that.

We at OBV wish him well tomorrow. We’ve said it here many times: If he’s elected he’ll make history by becoming the first directly elected Mayor of African descent in Europe. And in doing so he’ll inspire tens of thousands to follow in his footsteps.

Win or lose tomorrow, Marvin, we are very proud of you. If you’re successful you’ll follow in the footsteps of other notable OBV alumni including Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Clive Lewis MP and Helen Grant MP. Warsi and Grant both made history by becoming Ministers in Cameron’s Government.

Getting out to vote is going to be crucial if Rees is going to win. OBV urges all of you throughout the UK to go the polls tomorrow and exercise your franchise. This is doubly so if you’re in Bristol.
