Martin Luther King 3rd: Guest speaker at ‘Kick it Out’

The eldest son of the legendary Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King will fly into London today to be the international guest speaker at Kick it Out’s annual dinner at Wembley stadium this evening.

Kick it Out's Chair Lord Herman Ouseley will host the event, and with Martin Luther King 3rd, will demand that the upper echelons of the football game be more diverse and representative.

Four Black managers were sacked from the top two leagues this year including Chris Houghton and Paul Ince. Both leagues have no Black managers in a game where one third of the players are Black.

Since her appointment to Minister for Sports, Culture and Media, Helen Grant MP has taken a keen interest in seeking to address the challenges that top flight football faces in these areas. Last week she met with former England defender Sol Campbell and myself to explore how the Government can help. She too will be in attendance at tonight's dinner.
