OBV Graduates stand for election
OBV are delighted that five of its graduates are standing in this year's elections.
In Birmingham, Parveen Hassan and Afzal Shah both graduates from the Parliamentary Shadowing Scheme hope to make their mark on local politics in Birmingham. Hassan is the Conservative Party’s candidate for Ladywood ward. Talking about the importance of politics she said’ politics is important for us all to get involved in, to nurture and empower others’.
Shah meanwhile is standing as the Conservative Party’s candidate in South Yardley ward and credits the OBV scheme for ensuring he got involved in local politics which resulted in his selection as a prospective council candidate.
Other OBV graduates include, Nathalie Nicholas, a Labour Candidate for Picton Ward in Liverpool; Liz Musa, a Plaid Cymru candidate for Butetown ward in Wales and Nasir Jamil a conservative Candidate for Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.
It is clear from these graduates that there is clearly a wealth of talent within our BME communities up and down the country.
We wish all of them good luck.
