Rest in Peace Maxine James, dear friend

I can’t begin to express how deeply saddened I am following the unexpected loss of one of our special SupaSista’s, Maxine James.

It was only a couple of months ago that Maxine called me to say, “My dearest Simon, first you make me so proud of what you’re doing, but please find time to come to my local Labour Party meeting and shake them out of their complacency.”

I worked with this special woman for over 20 years, supporting her consultancy firm Equinox on race equality research projects, but what I enjoyed most was our chats; about our children, about her frustrated but beloved Labour Party, and most of all about making the world a better place. I kid you not, she never stopped being a deeply loving campaigner. It was in her soul.

You have been taken from us far too early my SupaSista, but you have left an indelible mark on our souls. From your beautiful energy, that broadest smile, and your rasping, infectious laugh, that I can hear as I write this.

May all the Gods give you the resting place you so richly deserve.

Rest in peace, Maxine. Rest in peace.
