OBV to train Tower Hamlet’s Community Champions
In the weeks and months ahead OBV will help train Tower Hamlet’s Community Champions. At present Tower Hamlet’s Council are recruiting for volunteer Community Champions who have a passion and pride in their local area .
A number of individuals from each of the 17 wards in the borough will be chosen to bring ideas, which will support, develop and tackle community issues.
It might be the organising of sharing school books that may no longer be in use; getting a graffiti wall covered over; to making sure the elderly neighbour is not short of a few groceries because they can’t get out during the cold weather, Community Champions will help makes things happen, and in doing so bring their neighbours together for a greater sense of belonging.
During the training sessions OBV will help the Champions be more effective in organising and in interacting with the local authority and other agencies, and work better with each other.
Anybody who lives in the Borough of Tower Hamlets can apply. All communities are encouraged to participate, this is what will make the project work best.
OBV is proud to be associated to such an exciting project.
