Jamii name first winner of out-of-home Black business campaign

TrimIt, the UK's first app-powered Mobile Barbershop has been announced as the first winner of a national ad campaign looking to boost public engagement with Black-owned businesses.  

Leading into this year's ninth Black Pound Day, they were selected as one of the 10 winners in a competition that Jamii say saw hundreds of applicants. In July, it was announced that Jamii had teamed up with the UK's leading out-of-home ad kings Clear Channel UK to launch a campaign that would see Black British business owners and creators receive greater visibility across the country.

Jamii stated that the initiative would amplify the stories of Black creators and 'sow the seeds for them to rise'.

Nine more winners will be named as part of the campaign but Jamii's worth as a platform for Black business is being daily. Having launched in 2016, Jamii has found its niche as a discovery platform for British brands 'on the up'.

Today, it provides access to more than 250 Black creators and makers with fitness products, jewellery, gift ideas and more all available on the website, and finding a home for consistent promotion across their social media platforms.

Jamii's coverage of the narratives behind the birth of Black British businesses was especially noteworthy during their Pinterest x Jamii collaboration dubbed 'Stories Of Black British Entrepreneurship.' If you haven't seen it you should, because the story of every single contributor is likely to resonate. Moses Odong, the creator of white rum maker Taxi Spirit Co, Melissa Sinclair, founder of Big Hair and Beauty, and Roshanne Dorset, the founder of vegan skincare brand The Glowcery are just some of those featured in the film.
